Quinn Ewers stands in the way of Arch Manning taking snaps as the Texas starting quarterback, but that doesn’t mean that there’s any animosity between the two. Instead, Manning is someone that Ewers looks up to and appreciates having as a teammate.

Not many people can understand what it’s like to grow up as Arch Manning — a quarterback who has had sky-high expectations practically since birth. Quinn Ewers didn’t have quite the same attention from his name, but he was tabbed to be a generational quarterback early on.

Manning was recently asked about Ewers and what their relationship is like.

“It’s nice having a guy like Quinn to look up to,” he said at the Manning Passing Academy. “He was a highly-rated recruit and he’s such a good guy, so I’ve learned so much from him. We’ve become really good friends. I’m just really glad that I’m in such a good situation.”

Ewers is entering his fourth season of college football. After starting his career at Ohio State, he transferred to Texas ahead of the 2022 season. He was named the Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year that season while starting 10 games for the Longhorns.

This past season, Ewers took his game to another level, leading Texas all the way to the College Football Playoff.

As for Arch Manning, he was ranked as the No. 1 overall player in the country for the class of 2023, per the On3 Industry rankings. Manning appeared in only two games last season, but he shined in the Texas spring game and it’s clear that he has a bright future in Austin.

Paul Finebaum claims Arch Manning will be Texas’ starting quarterback by end of season

Quinn Ewers enters the 2024 season as the Texas starting quarterback, but Paul Finebaum isn’t convinced he will keep that title.

Tyler Feldman of KVUE News asked Finebaum who he thought Texas’ QB1 would be by the end of this year. His response was a massive one as he actually went with Arch Manning over Quinn Ewers.

“That would be Arch Manning. I don’t need to tiptoe around that,” Finebaum stated. “That is guaranteed. You heard it. We may even see him a little bit throughout the season.”

However, upon realizing the chatter about it afterward, Finebaum has since clarified his stance.

“I may be feeble but I’m not that feeble,” Finebaum explained on ‘SEC Now’ later in the night. “When the guy said end of the season? I thought he meant end of the season. I don’t want to back away from anything I said but I did give an interview earlier to a young man with the local tv. I’ve been seeing that pop up and I’m, like, going, ‘What was I drinking?’

“I’m glad that you gave me a chance to clarify it because I really was thinking end of season. He’s going to be the starter next year and I said guaranteed, mark it down. I would never impugn Ewers because I think he’s probably the second-best quarterback in the country starting the year.”
