Texas Longhorns trending with 5-star OT Michael Fasusi
Texas has had no shortage of success recruiting elite offensive tackles under Steve Sarkisian and offensive line coach Kyle Flood’s watch.
In 2022, the Longhorns signed On3’s No. 6 overall prospect Kelvin Banks — expected to be a first-rounder in the 2025 NFL Draft. Two years later, UT signed elite four-star tackle Brandon Baker. And they have their eyes on a couple more in the 2025 class.
At the top of that list is Lewisville (Texas) five-star Michael Fasusi, the top offensive line prospect in the Lone Star State, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
Fasusi has been a frequent visitor to Austin over the past year, taking four visits to see the Longhorns — and he already has an official visit scheduled to the Forty Acres in June. Oklahoma, Missouri, LSU and a number of other schools are also involved, but will have to beat out the Longhorns to get him.
On Tuesday, InsideTexas.com recruiting insider Eric Nahlin placed an expert prediction in Texas’ favor.
“As you know there are three elite talents at offensive tackle in the state: Fasusi, Denton Ryan’s Ty Haywood, and Mesquite Horn’s Lamont Rogers,” Nahlin wrote on Tuesday. “That’s a good thing for Texas … and Oklahoma, and A&M.
… The most likely outcome as of now is Fasusi to Texas, Haywood to OU, and Rogers to A&M. Though, each school is still recruiting all three, and you can throw LSU in there as well.”

Longhorns looking to get on the board with an offensive tackle commit
Fasusi has raved about the Longhorns’ staff in the past, particularly Sarkisian and Flood.
“(My relationship) with Texas is going great,” Fasusi told InsideTexas in January. “Coach (Kyle) Flood and Coach (Steve Sarkisian) are amazing. I stay in contact with everybody. That’s what I’m really loving about Texas and OU, it’s the communication. Coach Sark and coach Flood talk to me every week.”
The Longhorns don’t yet have an offensive line commit in the 2025 class, but do boast five total pledges, including four-star quarterback KJ Lacey and top-40 athlete Lance Jackson.
Michael Fasusi Recruiting Profile
Fasusi checks in as the No. 11 overall prospect and No. 2 tackle in the 2025 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
On3’s Scouting and Rankings team writes this about him as a prospect:
“Strong, physical offensive tackle with a high developmental upside. Measured in at around 6-foot-5 and close to 300 pounds prior to his junior season. Added significant size during the off-season between his sophomore and junior years. Has plus length for the position and a well-proportioned build. Registers as a solid athlete in the combine setting. Also showing encouraging improvement on the field as a junior, adding play strength. Latches onto defensive linemen and keeps his feet moving on contact. Gets a considerable push at the point of attack. Plays with an edge and works to finish blocks with authority. Shows good lateral quickness and plays with an improved base and balance. Also participates in track and field, sporting a personal best throw of 46-10 feet in the shot put as a sophomore, a strong mark. Needs to work on his pass set technique but has the baseline skills to be a solid pass protector with coaching and work. Younger for the cycle, turning 17 years old in the summer prior to his senior season.”
