Texas entered the 2023 season as the Big 12 favorite and Steve Sarkisian‘s team delivered. A conference championship had not been brought back to Austin since 2009 but the long drought was ended when the Longhorns took down Oklahoma State in early December. While they are close to being members of the SEC, Texas still had to remember their last-ever Big 12 season.

Championship rings were revealed on Wednesday morning, with the official Texas Football X account showing them off. They used quarterback Quinn Ewers‘ bling as an example, showing off some of the best features.

Made up of diamonds, the Big 12 Championship is front and center with the famous Texas logo and the official trophy. On one side, each player gets their name above a helmet, while the College Football Playoff appearance is mentioned on the other.

A big way to celebrate when waiting for a Big 12 title for nearly 15 years. You can check out the full ring here.

Texas went 11-1 during the regular season with the lone loss being to Oklahoma in the Red River Shootout. A game nobody in Austin ever wanted to lose but the sting had to have been taken out by reaching the Big 12 Championship game and ultimately beating Oklahoma State.

From start to finish, Texas was in control of the game played at AT&T Stadium. The final score read 49-21 as the Longhorns led by multiple scores throughout.

Sarkisian was recently asked for his favorite play call of all time, choosing a touchdown scored in the first half in Arlington as his answer.

“I was sitting with Coach (AJ) Milwee, our quarterbacks coach the night before the game,” Sarkisian said. “We had an early kick and I said ‘The first time we get 3rd and 2 or 3rd and 3, I’m going with the odds — we’re getting man coverage.’

“We called a double reverse pass and had JT Sanders wide open for a touchdown. I said ‘That’s going to be the call. I don’t care if we’re on our own 10, that’s the call.’ And sure enough, it came up in the game and our guys hit it. When it hit the way that it hit, it was pretty special.”

Texas is hoping to not go a decade-plus without another conference title moving forward. Moving into the SEC will make the task more difficult but with how Sarkisian has built up the program, they will be one of the favorites to be in Atlanta for the 2024 season.
