It’s now or never for the Texas baseball team entering Game 3 of its super regional matchup with Stanford.

The Longhorns had a chance to advance to the College World Series Sunday but fell short, falling 8-3 to the Cardinal. The three-game series is now tied 1-1 entering the winner-take-all Game 3.

Texas coach David Pierce was asked about his message to his team entering the final game of the series after dropping Game 2 on Sunday.

“I’d take (this situation) all day,” Pierce said. “I mean, we did it last year. It doesn’t mean that it’s the same team. This is a team that’s created their own identity. They’re excited.”

Pierce’s Longhorns have reached the College World Series each of the past two seasons, including last year when it took three games to advance past East Carolina in the super regionals.

Sunday was a tough night, but Pierce is hopeful Monday will be better. His club is accustomed to being in this situation and finding a way to come out on top.

“It’s not the way we wanted it to go tonight, but we’re very resilient,” Pierce said. “I think it’s gonna be one hell of a game tomorrow.”

Texas enters Game 3 of the super regional with a 42-21 record. The Longhorns went 3-0 in the Coral Gables Regional to advance to the supers.

Stanford is 43-18 on the season entering Game 3. The Cardinal battled out of the loser’s bracket last weekend to reach the super regionals.

Texas vs. Stanford odds released for pivotal Game 3 with ticket to College World Series at stake

Texas and Stanford have a pivotal Game 3 Monday with a spot in the College World Series on the line and the latest odds have it razor thin.

According to the latest from Draft Kings, Stanford is the slight favorite to win Game 3. Right now, the Cardinal are -125 on the money line while Texas is -105.

As far as the run line is concerned, Stanford is the favorite as well but still close.

Stanford is -1.5 on the run line, putting Texas at +1.5. If you want to bet the run total, the over/under was set at 12 runs.

With first pitch scheduled for 8 p.m. ET, you have plenty of time to get those bets in.

The Longhorns took Game 1, 7-5, while Stanford battled back and won Game 2, 8-3.

During the fifth inning of Game 2 versus Texas, Stanford head coach David Esquer was asked what his message was to his team following their first loss of the series, revealing an interesting tactic he used as motivation.

“Well last night I sent them a gif of a toilet flushing, a ceremonial flushing of tonight,” Esquer said. “I told them it’s too daunting to try to win two games, we’re not going to win two games at once or we’re not going to get that game back we let get away from us.”
