Texas head coach Jim Schlossnagle was hoping to make his home debut on Tuesday, hosting Houston at Disch-Faulk Field. Mother nature has produced different ideas, as the game has been canceled. First pitch was originally moved back but due to inclement weather in the area, there will be no baseball in Austin.

Since Texas-Houston is a nonconference matchup, there appears to be no makeup scheduled. The official Texas Baseball account implied the Longhorns’ next game will take place on Friday. Dartmouth will be making a trip to the 40 Acres where hopefully, the weather is a little better, and all three games can be played.

Everything for the game was set to be played. Texas had released a lineup as true freshman Jason Flores was positioned to start on the bump. Officials knew weather was going to be a factor heading into the day and made the decision to move first pitch up to 5:30 earlier on Tuesday.

Before even getting to the scheduled start time, a weather delay was called at 5:08. Nearly 40 minutes later, the game was called.

Texas enjoyed a nice opening weekend in Arlington, going 2-1. Globe Life Field is usually a place where UT struggles but this year was different — and likely a huge sigh of relief from everyone involved with the program.

Texas takes down Ole Miss, Oklahoma State in Arlington

Friday night was a tough pill to swallow for Texas, losing to Louisville in extra innings. After taking a 3-2 lead in the top half of the 10th inning, Louisville scored two runs and got to celebrate the win.

Schlossnagle was able to rally the troops and find a way to end the weekend in extreme positive fashion, taking down both Ole Miss and Oklahoma State. Two offensive explosions took place, scoring a combined 24 runs in the two wins.

Saturday night was against the Rebels, an SEC opponent (although the win will not count toward the conference records.) A run rule did take place as Texas was up by 10 after seven innings.

Even more fun with the bats took place on Sunday night. An eight-run fifth inning wound up being the difference against Oklahoma State. Texas totaled 14 runs on 15 hits, taking down their old Big 12 foes in a familiar setting.

You have to imagine Schlossnagle would have loved to return home with all three wins. But starting his tenure on an overall positive note is a huge plus.
