Orange (Texas) West Orange-Stark athlete Jamaal Shaw has been offered by Texas, he announced Wednesday night.

Shaw is the No. 386 prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 18 athlete and the No. 69 junior prospect in Texas.

“WOW!! After a great conversation with Coach Bo Davis, I’m extremely blessed to receive an offer from my dream college, The University of Texas!” Shaw wrote on Twitter.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder has amassed a nice offer list, including Missouri, Baylor, Houston, Texas Tech, and UTSA. But the offer from the Longhorns is obviously a big one.

On3 Senior National Recruiting Analyst Gerry Hamilton wrote about Shaw late last month as a potential offer to watch for Texas.

“Texas is very interested in West Orange-Stark 2023 DB Jamaal Shaw,” Hamilton wrote. “The 6-foot-1.5, 185-pounder is the younger brother of one-time Texas commit Johnny Shaw for those that remember the 2012 and 2013 recruiting cycles. Baylor and Texas Tech offered during the season, and Houston and Marshall recently followed suit. Texas area recruiter Bo Davis was by the school on Monday, according to a source at West Orange-Stark.”

This fall, Shaw was a Texas 11-4A-II first-team all-district selection at CB and second-team at RB as a junior.
