Tim Tebow explains if Quinn Ewers' leash should be short with Arch Manning behind him
Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers struggled at times last season against Oklahoma, throwing a pair of interceptions to help the Sooners pull off the upset.
ESPN analyst Tim Tebow was asked on SportsCenter Saturday morning what Steve Sarkisian should do if Ewers struggles in this year’s Red River Rivalry, particularly with a quarterback like Arch Manning waiting on the bench.
According to Tebow, Quinn Ewers is the guy for the Longhorns, no matter what happens on Saturday.
“Well listen, I think Arch has done an amazing job. I think he is a top 25, top 30 quarterback in college football, even in only a little bit of time, only starting a couple of games.” Tebow said. “He is doing a great job. But I also think it’s so important that you have to be clear – Quinn Ewers is one of the best quarterbacks in the country. You can make an argument that he is the best quarterback in the country. What he did at the Big House against Michigan, he led his team to the playoff last year. I think that no matter what happens today, he has to be your guy.”
Quinn Ewers is completing better than 73 percent of his passes this season and has thrown for 691 yards and 8 touchdowns with 2 interceptions. Ewers has only played in three games this year and has been out since Sept. 14 with an injury.

Arch Manning has played in four games this season, making a pair of starts. He is completing better than 70 percent of his passes and has thrown for 901 yards with 9 touchdowns and 2 picks. Statistically the two are pretty similar, but Tebow believes there’s no doubt Ewers is the guy for the rest of the 2024 season.
“I think you have to instill that confidence in him to the entire team, to the entire fanbase, that he has to be your guy,” Tebow said. “Arch is going to be the guy and he is going to be great. I think he’s going to be a superstar. But today, that team has to be led by Quinn Ewers.”
