Timmy Allen describes feeling after scoring 2,000th career point

Texas forward Timmy Allen scored his 2,000th point last Saturday against West Virginia.
Rather than gloating about the achievement, he shrugged the career milestone off during the postgame press conference and deferred to the people surrounding him for helping him get to where he is today.
“It’s a testament to the journey,” the fifth-year senior said. “Staying healthy, being productive. I’ve played with a lot of great teammates and a lot of great coaches along the way, so it has been fun. It’s cool to have the feeling [of scoring 2,000 points]. I get buckets, so it’s fun.”
He scored his first 1,323 points at Utah, where he spent his first three college basketball seasons. He transferred to Texas during the 2021 offseason and has totaled over 700 more points since his arrival nearly two years ago.

Entering last Saturday’s game with 1,999 career points, only divine intervention could have stopped Allen from recording at least one bucket. He achieved the accolade early in the first half before finishing with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Allen was only able to add two points to his career totals in Monday’s 74-67 loss to Texas Tech.
Overall, he’s been a massive asset to the Longhorns’ offensive efforts since arriving on the Forty Acres. His stats have remained around the 11-point, 6-rebound margin for the better half of two seasons, but he could be scoring more since he was averaging over 17 points per game with the Utes for his final two seasons.
Texas will be needing Allen to showcase his scoring abilities when the Longhorns host Oklahoma this Saturday. With the Big-12 standings as close as ever following Texas’ loss, the Longhorns can’t afford any more losses this season — but that’s easier said than done. After facing the Sooners this weekend, Allen and Texas will finish their regular season slate with four straight ranked opponents.
