Timmy Allen details challenge of defending Keyonte George
Details. Details. Details.
That’s what it will take to guard Baylor‘s superstar freshman Keyonte George, according to Texas forward Timmy Allen. George will get his shots — and make them — and it’s Allen’s job to halt what has been an unstoppable force all season long.
“Keyonte is a great player. I love playing against him,” Allen said Thursday. “Obviously he’s the ultimate scorer, the ultimate player. He has a ceiling as high as anybody, but I love the matchup. I love the assignment. I really just need to hone in on the scouting report and what I need to do with his tendencies and where he likes to get his specific shots off from and try not to let him get any clean looks.
“Every shot he shoots you think is going to go in. If you see him shoot in warmups, every shot is just on top of the rim. He’s not missing — he’s got something when it comes to that. With him, you’ve just got to try and make it hard.”

The Longhorns and Bears will meet for the second time this season Saturday afternoon. The first battle, which came at the end of January, saw Texas take the win on its home court 76-71. George finished with 17 points on 5-of-18 shooting, while Allen was a bit more efficient with 18 points on a 70 percent (7-for-10) clip.
No. 8 Texas will need another showing like that from Allen if they want to sweep the season series over No. 9 Baylor. One loss and the Longhorns might lose out on winning the Big-12 regular season championship. They’re currently tied with No. 3 Kansas at 11-4. If both teams win out, the regular season finale between the Jayhawks and Longhorns will decide the fate of the Big-12 title.
Tip-off between the Longhorns and Bears is set for 2 p.m. ET live from the Ferrell Center on ESPN.
