Timmy Allen discusses how Rodney Terry challenged Texas entering Baylor matchup

Rodney Terry challenged his Texas to be better against Baylor on Monday, and Timmy Allen and the Longhorns responded well.
After losing to Tennessee over the weekend, Texas defeated the Bears, 76-71, in Austin.
Allen said the Longhorns take pride in their tenacity on the defensive end and weren’t happy with their performance against the Volunteers.

“He challenged us on defense,” Allen said after the game. “He challenged us to be better. We’re a team who prides ourself on defense, being able to guard the ball as a team and one on one. In Tennessee, we didn’t do that. We had to come back and get that back. Our team was used to getting out tough. That was something we dealt with a lot last year that it’s pretty quiet this year. That’s how we kind of want to keep it. We had to respond physically, mentally, but more so just be ready to play and hang our hat on the defensive end.”
Timmy Allen led Rodney Terry’s Texas squad to victory
Timmy Allen led the Longhorns with 18 points for Rodney Terry’s Texas team.
The victory was a huge one for the Longhorns, who have struggled against the Bears in recent memory.
“Baylor’s been really good. Scott’s done an incredible job with that program. And they’ve had our number, just to be honest. You look over the years and we haven’t won very much. I think they’d won 12 of the last 13 matchups. We needed to try to find a way and see if we couldn’t get this thing done,” Terry said. “We’re at home, but home is not enough. I tell our guys you still have to come out here and compete against a top team in the Big 12 on our home court. Nobody’s gonna give it to you…I was just really proud of this moment.”
