Tramon Mark breaks down game-winning shot vs. Texas A&M
The Texas Longhorns battled to come from behind to get a win on Saturday against the Texas A&M Aggies. Still, even with an excellent second-half effort, the game came down to a winning shot from guard Tramon Mark.
After the game, Mark broke down that game-winning shot and just what was going through his mind on the play.
“Julian [Larry] gave me a great pass,” Tramon Mark said. “Then, once I caught it, I saw I had the I had the whole left side open, instinct just to drive it. I saw a big man contest score over score through him, and that worked.”
At one point in the game, the Aggies had a 22-point lead on the Longhorns in the second half. Still, on the back of a 45-point second half, Texas was able to earn its third SEC win of the season. On the final play of the game, it was Mark who drove to the rim from the three-point line to make a contested shot and take the lead with just under four seconds remaining in the game. On the other end, a rushed shot wouldn’t go for the Aggies.
“I mean, I wasn’t that surprised when I saw it go through,” Mark said. “Because it’s a left hand, I’m left-handed. I work on those. But it felt good for it to go through and win the game.”

Tramon Mark finished the game with 11 points, two rebounds, and two assists. It was his ninth time scoring in double figures this season. That comes in a season where he’s averaging 9.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.2 assists on the year. He was one of just two Longhorns to score in double digits for the game with Tre Johnson leading the way with 30 of Texas’ 70 points. Nobody on Texas A&M scored more than 15 points.
For Texas fans, it was an incredibly memorable way to finish their first game in Austin against Texas A&M since January of 2012.
Texas has now won two games in a row and three out of four games in SEC play. That’s moved the Longhorns to 3-4 in SEC play and 11th in the conference standings. In their first season competing in a highly competitive conference, Texas now needs to find a way to build on that momentum moving forward and into Wednesday’s road game against Ole Miss.
