WATCH: Video surfaces of Steve Sarkisian losing his mind on TV rep prior to Alamo Bowl
For the first time in the Steve Sarkisian era, Texas played in a bowl game Friday night, taking on Washington in the Alamo Bowl. Before the game, though, Sarkisian was fired up — and a TV rep was on the receiving end of it.
A video captured Sarkisian yelling at the rep when he tried to stop the Longhorns headman from walking out of the tunnel too early. The expletives flew as Sarkisian expressed his displeasure with the rep touching him.
After the rant, Sarkisian turned back with his team before going onto the field.
Texas took an 8-4 record into the game, but was on the wrong end of the high-powered Washington offense. Led by quarterback Michael Penix Jr., the Huskies defeated the Longhorns 27-20, meaning Texas now heads into an offseason that will see Five Star Plus+ quarterback Arch Manning arrive on campus. Manning is the No. 1 recruit in the nation from the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Steve Sarkisian shares why he has confidence after Texas’ 2022 season
Despite losing in the Alamo Bowl, Texas showed clear signs of improvement in Steve Sarkisian’s second season. The question now becomes whether or not Texas can continue to improve moving forward.

Luckily, for the Longhorns, Sarkisian is confident that Texas will continue to improve moving forward.
“Yeah, I think, one, our culture,” Sarkisian said. “I know I’ve been harping on this, but I mean that. I think we have a team that is full of competitors. I think we have a team that really is fighting to win and they’re fighting to win together.”
There are still places where Sarkisian thinks Texas needs to improve. He won’t pretend like the Longhorns are a finished product. However, those improvements and changes are already being made.
“I think we can still make improvements there, of just making sure that we’re really poised and composed in critical moments of the game,” Sarkisian explained.
