Vince Young knows the Longhorns moving to the SEC is a gigantic move that could pay tremendous dividends for the University of Texas.

Speaking with Keyshawn Johnson on ESPN’s First Take, Young explained the true impact of the Longhorns’ move from the Big 12 to the SEC as he sees it.

“Change is change. Everything is always good to move forward,” stated Young. “Especially being in the Big 12, being the University of Texas. I think being in the SEC is big for us, because the SEC is a really outstanding conference. So, to have the opportunity to go to Florida and play. To go to — even bring the Texas A&M game back that we really want down here in Texas.

“Just to compete on that type of level is going to be really good for the University of Texas.”

Evidently, the Texas legend believes the sky is the limit for the Longhorns if they can find victories in the SEC. However, Vince Young may be happy if Texas simply takes care of business against the Texas A&M Aggies in the return of their heated rivalry.

During an appearance on ESPN’s First Take, Young revealed what Manning’s addition will mean for the Texas quarterback room.

“He’s in a family that is going to teach him the best way they can, the way they know how that works. I really feel like that’s not going to be an issue for him at all. What I do know is, in this quarterback room, having these big time quarterbacks from Maalik Murphy, from Hudson Card to Quinn [Ewers], it’s going to be a heated competition in that quarterback room. Which we all like. It doesn’t do nothing but make him better. It makes all of them better. It makes them mentally tough. That’s what we’re going to need,” stated Young. “When you’re playing at the University of Texas, you’re pretty much an NFL quarterback already. So, you’re going to need to have that pressure and that competition in that quarterback room.

“I’m just happy that he made the decision to come to the University of Texas. He’s already helping out with recruiting and things like that. So it’s going to be good for him, as well as all the rest of our quarterbacks. I love it because I’m going to be sitting there in that room with them, and I’m going to be messing with them and making sure they’re competing against each other to be the best. Not only against themselves, but for the University in general.”

To put it simply, Vince Young believes iron sharpens iron — the young stud quarterbacks will all be better off for being teammates.
