Three players are the cover stars of the new EA Sports College Football 25 game, with Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers joining Colorado‘s Travis Hunter and Michigan running back Donovan Edwards. Ewers is set to be one of the faces of the sport this season, guiding the Longhorns into the SEC. He’s now going to be an EA cover athlete forever in the game’s first release since summer 2013.

Everyone in Austin is fired up for Ewers and has sent out congratulatory messages. Arguably none more special than former Texas quarterback Vince Young, supporting Ewers via social media on Thursday.

“Look at my guy @QuinnEwers repping the Horns on the cover EA Sports College Football 25,” Young said via X. “#respect #CFB25 #HookEm #EAAthlete @EASPORTSCollege

Young has a history with EA Sports himself, although it’s not related to the college game. NCAA 07’s cover was USC star Reggie Bush instead of Young thanks to his Heisman Trophy win. Texas may have won the national championship but there is no denying the star power Bush had back in the day.

Instead, EA Sports put Young on the Madden 08 cover after his rookie season with the Tennessee Titans. He was fresh off winning Offensive Rookie of the Year and making the Pro Bowl thanks to 2,199 yards and 12 touchdowns through the air while rushing for 552 yards and another seven touchdowns.

If his career pans out, Ewers could have the chance to be on the Madden cover one day. But for now, he’s got one over Young with his inclusion on EA Sports College Football 25.

Relationship between Quinn Ewers, Vince Young continues

Young has been a mentor for Ewers ever since he stepped foot on the 40 Acres. A lot of pressure was put on both guys, mainly due to their recruiting ranking coming out of high school. Ewers was as good of a prospect as Texas had acquired since Young back in the 2004 class.

When Ewers was named the starter ahead of the 2022 season, there was nobody better to receive advice from than Young.

“It’s wild,” Ewers said on speaking with Young in Aug. 2022. “From all the stuff that he’s done here and all the stuff I have seen. I was pretty young — I was like two when he won the natty. Just seeing him. I got to say hello. It’s good to see him. He just said ‘don’t be nervous, just play your game.’ It’s cool to see players like him come back and still support this University.”

Flashforward a year when Ewers and Young shared a moment in Tuscaloosa after Texas had just taken down Alabama. Ewers put up a historic performance against the Crimson Tide and Young was there to greet him on the field.
