WATCH: Chris Beard confronts Oklahoma fan who attempted to call him out

As he left the court following Texas’ win over Oklahoma on Tuesday, head coach Chris Beard confronted an Oklahoma fan who heckled him as he left. Beard was caught on camera looking right at the fan as he shouted, before deciding to walk over and calmly say something to him in response.

Chris Beard confronts Oklahoma fan

As the Sooners’ home crowd continued to disperse from the arena following their team’s loss, one fan took a parting shot at Beard as he headed into the locker room. The fan was clearly heard by the camera shouting “Chris Beard, you’re a traitor!” Beard looked directly at who said it, and appeared to ignore it at first before turning around and walking up to the group of fans on the court.

There was no audio of what Beard said in response, but as he walked away the fan nodded and smiled at whatever he was told. Although Beard isn’t a “traitor” to Oklahoma, the fan took his shot at what Beard has heard throughout the season from Texas Tech fans.

Beard departed Texas Tech to take over the Texas Longhorns’ program this season, coming as a shock to the Red Raiders. The feeling of betrayal the students and fans have felt over his leaving was not lessened by the time Beard made his first return to the Texas Tech campus. As he arrived for their game earlier this year, fans shouted explicit chants towards him and directly by his name. The matchup ended in a road win for the Longhorns, but Texas Tech fans did not waste an opportunity to let their former coach know how they felt.
