Texas released a hype video ahead of the Longhorns rivalry game with TCU on Saturday.
Coming off a 70-35 win over Texas Tech, the 3-1 Longhorns now head to Forth Worth to take on a TCU team reeling from a 42-34 loss to SMU.
Steve Sarkisian’s offense has hit its stride since naming junior Casey Thompson starting quarterback following Texas’ loss to Arkansas.
Thompson has thrown for 565 over four games, two of which were starts. In Texas’ blowout win over Texas Tech, Thompson threw for 303 yards and five touchdowns, completing over 78 percent of his passes.
Texas running back Bijan Robinson has been the catalyst of the offense, rushing for 436 yards and five touchdowns, adding 145 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Texas will face a tough task defensively in TCU quarterback Max Duggan and former five-star running back Zach Evans.
“Max is a really gritty player and that’s a term of endearment. I don’t mean to say that lightly,” Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said. “I mean to say that he finds a way to make plays, whether that’s through the air, with his legs, extending plays, making throws, using his legs to run on third down, red area. So I think there’s times when you utilize the spy.”
Sarkisian raved about the TCU running back as well, who’s rushed for 330 yards and two touchdowns to go along with 84 receiving yards and another touchdown. Evans is averaging nearly eight yards per carry.
“Well he’s a dynamic player for sure,” Sarkisian said. “I actually recruited him pretty hard coming out of high school. I think he kind of had, like most freshmen, that transition year last season. He really looks like he’s playing kind of like the player that we saw in high school. He’s a dynamic runner. He’s got the breakaway speed, the elusiveness, yet he’s definitely a factor in the passing game. And when he gets in the open field and he has space, he can be a problem.”
Texas takes on TCU on Saturday at 11:00 A.M CST on ABC.
