Xavier PF transfer Lassina Traore commits to Texas Longhorns

Xavier power forward transfer Lassina Traore has committed to play at Texas out of the NCAA Transfer Portal, per Travis Branham.

The 6-foot-9, 215-pound Traore didn’t appear in a game during his lone season with the Musketeers due to a season-ending knee injury in the preseason, but he played two seasons at Long Beach State and one at Saint Louis prior to that.

His commitment also means he will reunite with former Xavier head coach Sean Miller, who left the program this offseason to take the head job in Austin. During his two season at Long Beach State, Traore was one of the country’s top rebounders. In 2023-24, he averaged 11.9 points and 10.3 rebounds per contest, leading the Big West in total rebounds, offensive rebounds and defensive rebounds.

He is expected to have one year of eligibility remaining and joins a Longhorns’ frontcourt that needs to replace senior starters Kadin Shedrick and Arthur Kaluma.
