Xavier wing Dailyn Swain has committed to Texas out of the NCAA transfer portal. CAA’s NIL Basketball division informed ESPN of the decision, relayed by Jonathan Givony.

Swain is coming off a breakout season with the Musketeers. He averaged 11.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.

During the 2024-25 campaign, Dailyn Swain started in 33 of 34 games for Xavier. He wasn’t an overly strong shooter from the perimeter, but he offered some real length and athleticism.

In addition to his scoring and rebounding, Swain averaged 2.6 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.6 blocks per game. He could fill the stat sheet on any given night.

As a sophomore this season, Dailyn Swain shot 25.0% from 3-point range, 53.2% from the floor and 81.7% from free-throw range. If he can increase his shooting percentages from outside he will be downright lethal.

Swain really showed off what he could do in the NCAA Tournament. He scored 27 points, while pulling down eight rebounds, dishing out three assists and recording three steals, in an opening-round loss to Illinois. On the year he recorded three double-doubles.

The jump, though, that Swain made from his freshman season to sophomore season was palpable. As a freshman he started only three of 29 contests, averaging 19.0 minutes per game.

In that time, Swain dropped 4.6 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. He also tallied 1.2 assist and 1.0 steals per contest, still proving to be a reliable all-around contributor coming off the bench.

Now, with Texas, he’ll look to continue expanding his game. New Longhorns coach Sean Miller has a knack for developing players with Swain’s size and skill set, so the transition will be intriguing to watch.

As a recruit, Dailyn Swain was rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 84 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class. He also checked in as the No. 17 small forward in the class, as well as the No. 2 overall player from the state of Ohio, hailing from Columbus (OH) Columbus Africentric Early College.
