Texas WR Xavier Worthy heads to locker room vs. Iowa State
Texas is in another tight ball game, looking to continue their journey toward a Big 12 Championship against Iowa State. While the first half was a rock fight, the second half has opened up a bit. Unfortunately for Steve Sarkisian, he is currently working his offense without Xavier Worthy.
FOX sideline reporter Allison Williams said Worthy limped off the field at one point and is now in the Texas locker room. A potential huge loss for Texas, the wide receiver has been the favorite target of quarterback Quinn Ewers all season long.
“You guys will see Xavier Worthy not out on the field for Texas,” Williams began. “He did come limping off of it. I’m told he’s heading into the locker room to be evaluated.”
Eventually, Worthy came out of the locker room but it was not the news Texas fans likely wanted to hear. Yes, Sarkisian was in conservative mode and trying to put the game away by running the ball but the potential injury mentioned by Williams is not a good sign.
“A week after Texas lost their top running back in Jonathon Brooks, Xavier Worthy is done for the night,” Williams said. “He has his pads on. It looks like he was struggling to put any pressure on that left leg.”

The Iowa State game needs to be closed out, something the Longhorns have struggled with this season. Sarkisian is likely to hand the ball off to CJ Baxter and try to put the nail in the coffin.
Once Texas is able to get off the field, Worthy’s status will instantly become a huge talking point. There is a lot more at stake for Sarkisian than a win in Ames, with Big 12 title and College Football Playoff aspirations still alive.
Whether or not Worthy is on the field will be a huge deal.
Xavier Worthy having a huge third season with Texas
Despite going out of the game injured, Worthy is currently Texas’ leading receiver. He has caught seven passes for 77 yards but was not able to secure a touchdown. A great performance, with a potential leg issue hanging in the balance.
Heading into the game, Worthy had 59 receptions for 757 yards and four touchdowns. While his TD number might be a little bit lower, we are seeing more of the Worthy we did when he was a true freshman. Getting some help from other receivers has certainly helped.
