4-star in-state athlete Jmaury Davis commits to Texas Tech
New Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire promised to keep local talent home, and with the commitment of Jmaury Davis, he’s keeping that pledge.
Davis committed to the Red Raiders on Monday over offers from Kentucky, Purdue, Western Kentucky and UTSA. The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder is the No. 334 prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 16 athlete and the No. 59 junior prospect in the Lone Star State.
“Extremely blessed and excited to announce my commitment to Texas Tech,” Davis wrote on Twitter. “I would like to thank my family, coaches and teammates who have always believed in me and pushed to be the best I can be on and off the field.”

Jmaury Davis is the Red Raiders’ 10th commitment in the 2023 cycle, all of whom hail from the state of Texas. He is Texas Tech’s fourth four-star pledge, joining safety Brenden Jordan, cornerback Calvin Simpson-Hunt, and receiver Tyrone West.
Tech’s class ranks No. 13 nationally, according to the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings. And the quartet of blue-chippers are the most they’ve had pledged in a single class since 2015.
