Mississippi State transfer CB Brice Pollock commits to Texas Tech

Mississippi State transfer defensive back Brice Pollock committed to the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Friday night, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound defensive back tallied 72 tackles, 10 passes defended, one forced fumble, and one interception in his two years with the Bulldogs. Pollock is currently ranked as a Top 5 corner in the portal, according to the On3 Rankings.
The 6’1, 190-pound sophomore made an impact for the Bulldogs immediately last year. A native of Georgia and a former standout at Shiloh High School, Pollock stepped in and played major reps down the stretch last season with 24 tackles and a 0.5 TFL. This year, Pollock was easily State’s most productive corner as he became a shutdown corner with 48 tackles, 10 passes defended, an interception, 1.0 TFL and a forced fumble.
Pollock was originally committed to Pittsburgh during the recruiting process, but the Bulldogs landed him on signing day of 2022.
He takes away what would have been a major piece to Mississippi State’s defense locked in for a unit that must greatly improve in 2025. Coleman Hutzler is down to just a few players that he’ll be able to build around in the transfer portal and now opens up an important add for the coach for next year.

Pollock was the fourth MSU player to announce intentions to enter the portal on Tuesday (December 3rd) alone. He follows LB Ty Cooper and John Lewis and DL Gabe Moore.
Texas Tech had an impressive season this year, finishing 8-4 overall. They had some very good offensive numbers, including a 3,000-yard passer (Behren Morton), a 1,500-yard rusher (Tahj Brooks), and a 1,000-yard receiver (Josh Kelly). The Red Raiders will face off against Arkansas in the Liberty Bowl.
