Texas Tech climbs in On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings

Texas Tech notched a win on the recruiting trail Saturday when Round Rock (Texas) three-star defensive lineman Ansel Nedore committed to the Red Raiders. Nedore’s pledge elevated Texas Tech’s 2023 recruiting class to No. 23 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 4 in the Big 12. The decision also helped the Red Raiders’ group rise three spots from No. 26.

Nedore is the No. 434 overall prospect and No. 50 defensive lineman in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 75 player in Texas.

On3 rates him even higher. He is the No. 242 overall prospect, No. 32 defensive lineman and No. 45 player in Texas, per the 2023 On300.

Nedore is the latest impact commit for Texas Tech

The Red Raiders’ class currently contains 25 prospects, composed of three four-stars and 22 three-stars. Nedore is the fifth-highest-ranked prospect in the group behind Post (Texas) four-star EDGE Isaiah Crawford, Arlington (Texas) Mansfield Timberview four-star cornerback Jordan Sanford, Mansfield (Texas) safety Brenden Jordan and Wichita Falls (Texas) Rider three-star athlete Anquan Willis.

Nedore is the Red Raiders’ fifth defensive lineman pledge in the 2023 cycle. The others are Del Valle (Texas) three-star Jayden Cofield, Woodville (Texas) three-star Braylon Rigsby, Orange (Texas) Little Cypress-Mauriceville three-star Amier Washington and Natchitoches (La.) Natchitoches Central three-star Tre’Darius Brown.

He’s also Texas Tech’s second commitment of August alongside Sanford. The Red Raiders previously notched pledges in June and July from Shreveport (La.) Captain Shreve three-star cornerback Macho Stevenson, Arlington (Texas) Bowie three-star wide receiver Kelby Valsin, Woodville (Texas) three-star defensive lineman Braylon Rigsby, League City (Texas) Clear Springs three-star interior offensive lineman Nick Fattig and Spartanburg (S.C.) Byrnes three-star linebacker Miquel Dingle.

Nedore has an On3 NIL Valuation of $8.4K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
