The Texas Tech Red Raiders absolutely dominated the college basketball version of the transfer portal this offseason, reeling in one of the nation’s top classes. One diehard Red Raider fan promised that if Fardaws Aimaq signed with his team, that he would eat a worm. True to his word, the highly coveted big man signed with the Red Raiders and the fan actually ate a live worm, posting the video to Twitter.

Once he downed the live worm, the man decided to polish it off with a little bit of Coors Light. After that, he had a bit of a tortilla. Talk about a pretty wild transfer portal bet.

The video brings back visions of the old TV show titled, “Fear Factor with Joe Rogan, where contestants would perform sorts of crazy things for money, including eating worms. Airmaq simply couldn’t believe it. Once he saw the video, he responded “Yeah. Wow. You get my first Tech and NBA jersey signed.”

Texas Tech landed one of the nation’s top classes from the transfer portal and they should feel grateful to land a special talent like Aimaq. He was one of the most coveted center prospects in the portal and drew interest from Washington, Iowa, Gonzaga, and Texas. Aimaq even considered testing the NBA waters as well.

Aimaq has a remarkbly impressive basketball resume

He was one of the most coveted prospects in the transfer portal this offseason and with good reason–the 6-foot-11 big man was remarkably dominant during his time with the Utah Valley Wolverines in the 2020-2021 season. Aimaq became the first player in Utah Valley history to earn both the WAC Player of the Year and WAC Defensive Player of the Year honors. In the 2020-2021 season, the gifted big man led the nation in rebounding with 15 rebounds per outing. He also corralled 20 or more rebounds in three games that season. As a scorer, he also averaged 13.9 points per game, while shooting 48.5 percent from the field.

Last season, Aimaq, poured in 18.9 points per game, pulled down 13.6 rebounds per game, and shot 43.5 percent from three-point range. Simply put, you’d be hard pressed to find a more complete big man than the British Columbian native and that’s precisely why so many teams across the country were vying for his services.

The Red Raiders will be a team to watch out for next season in the Big 12 conference–after they landed three of the most coveted prospects in the 2022 college basketball transfer portal: Aimaq, Jaylon Tyson, and De’Vion Harmon. No team in college basketball landed a trio as gifted as those three.
