Tulane keeps three-star WR Joshua Jackson in-state
New Orleans (La.) St. Augustine WR Joshua Jackson toured all over the Southeast and different parts of the country — only to come to the realization that he ultimately didn’t want — or need — to leave home.
Jackson, the nation’s No. 89-rated wide receiver out of The Boot committed to Tulane on Wednesday. The three-star pass-catcher was Uptown for an unofficial visit when he made the call to commit to the Green Wave over the likes of Michigan, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Louisiana-Lafayette, as well as several others.
“Almost all of the coaches stayed in contact almost every day,” Jackson told On3 regarding his decision to commit to Tulane.
“It’s home, so why not just stay at the crib? It means a lot to be a hometown hero and put on for my city,” he continued. “Tulane was right there and I know I could put on for my city. I feel like I could fit in with some of those players from spending time with them and I feel like I could play super early.”
The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder from the Crescent City frequented Tulane throughout the spring and even more so this past month. In that span, he became a focal point of the coaching staff, and in particular, head coach Willie Fritz.

Several coaches played key roles in keeping Jackson local, including Fritz and also J.J. McClesky. Over the spring and in recent weeks, the entire Green Wave coaching staff dialed up the heat on keeping Louisiana’s No. 13-rated recruit home.
“Coach Fritz and Coach JJ are both great coaches,” Jackson explained. “Coach Fritz would stay in contact and we get on the phone all the time. Knowing the head coach wants you there says something, for sure … but my relationship with Tulane is different cause I could go visit anytime and I had a great bond with all of the coaches.”
“I saw them practicing a lot this spring, so I see what they do to develop their players over there,” he continued on. “It’s what I like to see and I think it can help me. I saw all the receivers and how their route running was and all of their team bonding together, and I like what I saw.”
Jackson checks in as the No. 597 recruit in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
