Florida Gators wide receiver Marcus Burke has committed to transfer to the UCF Knights. On3’s Pete Nakos confirmed Burke’s signing.

Burke played his high school football at Trinity Christian Academy in Florida. There, he was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2021, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the 25th-ranked wide receiver, the 24th-ranked player in Florida, and the 161st-ranked player in that recruiting cycle.

Coming out of high school, Burke held offers from Georgia, Texas, Ole Miss, and South Carolina among a long list of schools. In 29 games over four seasons with the Gators, Burke made 19 receptions for 270 yards and two touchdowns. That’s 14.2 yards per reception. He has also appeared on the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll. In 2021, he appeared in three games and used a redshirt.

In 2024, the Florida Gators were able to go 8-5, winning the Gasparilla Bowl in the process. It was a season that saw the offense flip between quarterbacks as the Gators dealt with injuries at that position. Still, the Florida passing offense was 69th nationally, averaging 225.7 yards per game.

Now, Burke is joining a UCF team coming off a 4-8 season and a coaching change. Former head coach Gus Malzahn left to become the offensive coordinator at Florida State and was replaced by Scott Frost. After a season where the Knights finished 97th in passing offense, averaging 199.7 passing yards per game, and lost its top two receivers to the NFL and transfer portal respectively.

The transfer portal opened on Monday, December 9th and ran through December 28th. The portal can also open for other reasons, like a change at head coach. On top of that, there will be another transfer window in the Spring, following practice then.

UCF and Frost have been active in the transfer portal, as is often the case following a coaching change. The Knights currently have the 28th-ranked transfer class in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings. That class includes 22 players who have left and 22 players who have joined the program.

Burke has one season of eligibility remaining at UCF.
