On Saturday, the UCLA Bruins were knocked off by the Arizona Wildcats 27-10. Chip Kelly‘s Bruins struggled to find any offensive consistency in a game in which they were favored to win by 2.5 points.

After the game, Kelly took to the podium to share a few thoughts on his team’s performance. One of the things Kelly was critical of was the Bruins’s inability to score on Saturday. While to some it seemed like Arizona came up with a near-perfect defensive strategy to limit UCLA’s offense, their head coach believes their inability to finish drives doomed them more than anything else.

“I think it was more of us. We had the ball in the redzone three or four times; we gotta convert when we have the ball in the redzone,” said Kelly. “We’re trading threes for sevens, and you can’t trade threes for sevens against a good offensive team like they have.

“We moved the ball, and we got the ball in the redzone, but we didn’t convert the redzone. So our execution, on the offensive side of the ball, has got to improve down there. And our field goal operations has got to improve down there. It’s a 14-13 game, and halftime if we hit those field goals. But we shouldn’t be hitting field goals; we should be scoring touchdowns. So, we have to do a better job in the redzone, specifically on offense.”

The Arizona defense did force UCLA into three three-and-outs in the game and two turnover-on-down drives late in the game with a combined 14 plays for just 41 yards. Still, to Kelly’s point, the Bruins were in scoring position a handful of times and came away with nothing. Moreover, had they done so, Kelly and UCLA could be sitting at 7-2 with a 4-2 record in the Pac-12 and their conference title hopes firmly intact.

UCLA releases statement on missing jewelry from Colorado locker room

The 28-16 win for UCLA over Colorado wasn’t the biggest story in Los Angeles on Saturday night. As it turns out, a crime took the lead following the game as reports surfaced that the Buffalo’s locker room was broken into with thieves stealing from a handful of players.

Now, the Bruins have made a statement regarding the incident that took place at the Rose Bowl this weekend. UCLA confirmed that a police report was filed regarding the matter and that they are in contact with all sides involved.

“The UCLA athletic department confirmed that a report was filed to the Pasadena Police Department following the UCLA-Colorado football game regarding items that were reportedly missing from the Colorado locker room,” the statement read. “UCLA is in communication with law enforcement, Rose Bowl Stadium officials, and the University of Colorado on the matter.”

Jewelry, specifically several chains, and personal belongings were taken from Colorado’s locker room. A video began to circulate around that time of several players discussing their missing property before someone, presumably associated with UCLA or the venue, spoke with them about the next steps.
