Dante Moore is pretty excited for UCLA to join the Big Ten in 2024, along with rival USC, as the two schools leave the Pac-12.

Moore is a Detroit native and was recruited by Michigan, among others. Eventually, he committed to Oregon but flipped to UCLA in the end to play under Chip Kelly.

Moore is expected to be a big time quarterback for the Bruins at some point, and that could happen once UCLA is in the Big Ten.

“I’m from the midwest, from Detroit, the Big Ten is there,” Moore said. “So me being out here of course loving LA weather, but going back into the Big Ten playing in the cold again, it was a great factor for sure. The Pac-12 is a great conference but the Big Ten, having all of the light on you, having the light on the team, having the light on the conference overall, TV time and everything, it’s a big factor for this whole team. I know as a whole team, we’re proud to be going to the Big Ten.”

The Big Ten made headlines with the announcement of UCLA and USC set to join in 2024. New commissioner Tony Petitti should build upon that.

Moore alluded to the Big Ten as a factor to join UCLA. While that was part of it, he wanted to play for Kelly, a noted developer of quarterbacks.

“I mean, coach Kelly, him being one of the greatest head coaches to be doing it right now in college football,” Moore said. “Him being a coach in the NFL, coaching at the highest level. And him just having the resume he has and coaching great quarterbacks like Marcus Mariota, Mike Vick and everybody.

“That just really drew my attention. When he was at Oregon, the Oregon days, he had Marcus Mariota in an explosive offense. I knew me being a quarterback there, that would be a great development for me. I’m just blessed to be with him.”

Martin Luther King, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 1 overall prospect in the state, the No. 2 quarterback in the class and the No. 3 overall prospect in the class.
