DeShaun Foster not giving timeline on quarterback decision with Minnesota 'looking at everything'
Deshaun Foster isn’t going to give anything up as far as the quarterback decision this weekend for UCLA.
Foster received several questions about whether Ethan Garbers would be back starting or if Justyn Martin would get another game for the Bruins during his media availability on Wednesday. By the end of it, he said he wouldn’t be providing a time for it so as not to tip off the Golden Gopher ahead of kickoff.
“No, because Minnesota is looking at everything that you guys post. So, if I wanted to give them a leg up on us so they could figure out who to get ready for? Then I would,” said Foster. “It’s not against you guys. It’s just that I have an opponent that’s for sure looking at what you guys post. That’s why it’s what it is.”
As for the latest on both Bruins, Foster said each is practicing and receiving reps for this week. From there, he will pick the best option for their offense and who he wants to rely on for Saturday.
“Ethan’s doing good but both of them are taking reps,” said Foster. “I’ve got two quarterbacks that are practicing well.”

“It’s my decision. That is my decision. That’s what’s going into it,” Foster responded. “Who I think is playing well. So, I’m just going to go with who I trust.
Garbers started over the first four this fall for UCLA. In that time, he went 67-117 (57.3%) for 808 yards, three touchdowns, and six interceptions. However, an ankle injury against Oregon limited him in practice and eventually led to him missing their last game at Penn State.
Against the Nittany Lions, Martin came in as the reserve and was quality in his first collegiate action in that spot. He went 22-30 (73.3%) for 167 yards and a touchdown in the 27-11 loss in Happy Valley.
Minnesota comes in having one of the top defenses in the country this season. That’s why Foster isn’t going to make it any easier for them to defend them as there’ll be some more gamesmanship at that position between now and game time that night.
