Former UCLA defensive back announces transfer destination
Former UCLA defensive back Jay Shaw announced Tuesday on Instagram that he will transfer to Wisconsin for his sixth collegiate season. The former three-star recruit will use the free year of eligibility given by the NCAA during the COVID-19 pandemic to make a move from the Pac-12 to the Big Ten.
Jay Shaw played 31 games at UCLA before deciding to transfer to Wisconsin, primarily spending his time at cornerback. Over his career, Shaw has 87 tackles with five interceptions and 10 pass deflections. He added two forced fumbles and a pick six as well.
In addition to a graphic announcing his decision, Shaw posted a caption with the location tag set for Madison, Wisconsin.
“New location with a deeper dedication. Vageta. Trunks. Kakarot. In other words you dig what I’m Saiyan,” Shaw posted.
Former Wisconsin commit changes mind
Kalon Gervin originally committed to Wisconsin after transferring from Michigan State. Friday night, the former Spartan announced a “change of plans.”
Instead of going to Madison, Wisconsin, he’s heading to Lawrence, Kansas.
Gervin posted a picture on Twitter announcing his commitment to Kansas last month. The announcement came more than a month after he committed to Wisconsin.
Gervin, a Detroit native, committed to Michigan State as part of the Class of 2018. He was a four-star prospect and the No. 3 recruit in the state of Michigan, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Alabama, Oklahoma, Ohio State and Notre Dame were among the many teams to offer Gervin a scholarship out of high school.
He committed to Wisconsin in October as the Badgers work to replace their starting defensive backs, none of whom are expected to return next season. Instead, he’ll join Lance Leipold’s Kansas team.
At Michigan State, Gervin had 44 tackles and a scoop-and-score over his three-year career in East Lansing. He was one of three Spartans to enter the transfer portal during the season, along with Chase Kline and Alex Okelo.
Kansas had a rough go this year, winning just two games. However, one of those wins came over Texas, 57-56, in Austin on Nov. 13.
