Four-Star LB Tre Edwards commits to UCLA
Four-star linebacker Tre Edwards of Chula Vista (Cali.) Mater Dei Catholic High has announced his commitment to UCLA Friday evening.
The 6-foot-1, 220 pounder chose the Bruins over Arizona, Cal, and Oregon.
Edwards went in-depth on why he chose UCLA
“The reason I chose UCLA was because of my connection with the coaching staff and players,” Edwards said. “Having a coach like Ken Norton Jr, a guy who played and coached in the NFL and won 3 Super Bowls is something really hard to pass up on. Being able to have someone like him mentoring me for 3-4 years can help me get to the next level.”
“Another reason I also picked UCLA was because their academics is really good, and you can’t pass up on a school with great academics and a great football program.”
Tre Edwards on his UCLA visit
“My visit to UCLA was amazing,” Edwards said. “I would say the main thing that stood out to me was being able to bond with the players and coaches and just being in the city of LA. After my visit, it most definitely sealed the deal.”
UCLA is home for Edwards
“Man it feels amazing staying home, you can’t beat the SoCal weather and being able to have my family 2 hours away played a big part for me as well.”

Keys on the run and drives through ball carriers. Shows some disruptive ability as a blitzer and pass rusher. Looks to be an average athlete in space and in coverage.”
He ranks as the No. 250 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally-weighted industry generated average that accounts for all four major recruiting services. The 2023 prospect also tabs in at the No. 21 linebacker and the No. 16 player in the state of California.
