Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star safety Khristian Dunbar-Hawkins announced his commitment to UCLA on Thursday. He chose the Bruins over offers from Texas, Texas A&M and Washington among others.
Dunbar-Hawkins is the No. 217 overall prospect and No. 18 safety in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 20 player in California.
The 6-foot-0, 170-pound defensive back is the first member of the Bruins’ 2024 recruiting class. He has visited Westwood three times, most recently on Nov. 19.

Meanwhile, UCLA’s 2023 class is No. 33 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 5 in the Pac-12. The group is led by Detroit Martin Luther King five-star quarterback Dante Moore, the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2023 On3 Consensus.
Dunbar-Hawkins has an On3 NIL Valuation of $14.4K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
