Kwazi Gilmer - UCLA

Four-star wide receiver Kwazi Gilmer of West Hills (CA) Sierra Canyon announced his commitment to UCLA Friday afternoon.

The 6-foot-2, 180 pounder chose the Bruins over Washington and Michigan State.

“What stood out was the option of being home. My mother went to Ucla and graduated there. While she was there, she was pregnant with me and had me in her class after I was born. UCLA has always been one of my favorite schools and to have the opportunity to play for Chip Kelly is a dream is like a dream come true. I’m also from Oregon so at the time, I was there Chip was the coach and Oregon. So me going to my first football game, I saw how Chip Kelly runs his team to victory. A big reason is how I felt when I went on my Ov it just felt like home with all the coaches and the players already felt like family. Also having 5 star Qb Dante Moore isn’t bad.”

His relationship with the coaching staff and their plan for him played a role in his decision as well.

“My relationship with the staff is really good, my biggest things were about going on all these official visits. Was to see how the coaches are. I knew the UCLA coaches were all great people even before the official visits because I went to a lot of their spring games. I got very close with the WR coach, Coach Jerry Neuheisel. Chip Kelly told me that they really need me and are going to plan to use me and Dante in their offense.”
