On3 4-star OT Mark Schroller commits to UCLA Bruins: 'It is a dream come true'
Mission Viejo (Calif.) four-star offensive tackle Mark Schroller held offers from schools across the country, including Arkansas, Auburn, Texas A&M, Stanford and Wisconsin. In the end, he decided to stay close to home.
Schroller announced his commitment to UCLA on Sunday. He chose the Bruins over the Badgers, Cardinal and Minnesota.
“I’ve always imagined myself playing at UCLA and I truly think it is a dream come true,” Schroller told On3.
Schroller’s father played offensive line for the Bruins, which is why it was very special when he got offered by head coach Chip Kelly and his staff on April 15. In the following days, the 6-foot-6, 285-pound recruit realized “that UCLA was home and has been my dream school since I was born.”
The California native has visited UCLA’s campus twice and attended numerous games at the Rose Bowl with his parents, who are both alums of the university.
“Coach Kelly is building a very special program that will be successful,” said Schroller, the No. 253 overall prospect and No. 22 offensive tackle in the 2024 On300. “I’ve been to a couple practices and have seen the intensity and the passion that all of the guys have. The coaching staff is full of brilliant minds and I think UCLA will be successful in the future.”
Schroller is excited to make UCLA ‘my home’
Schroller is already very familiar with UCLA’s program. He likes the Bruins’ upcoming move to the Big Ten and their academic opportunities.

“The environment is extremely welcoming and friendly,” Schroller said. “A big part of my decision is because of the academics. It also means football players and coaches are very smart and I can have intellectual conversations with them.”
Being close to Mission Viejo is another plus for Schroller. The three-star is excited to eventually make UCLA “my home” and be a Bruin for his college football career.
When he arrives in Westwood, Schroller is also looking forward to learning from multiple people, including offensive line coach Tim Drevno. The two have known each other for around a year.
“I’ve gotten to talk with him a good amount on the phone and get to understand his coaching style,” said Schroller, who is the second offensive tackle in UCLA’s 2024 class alongside Chula Vista (Calif.) Eastlake three-star Joshua Glanz. “He is super intelligent and experienced in his field of work. I think he is going to be a great guide to develop me.”
