UCLA head coach Mick Cronin wasn’t happy while speaking to reporters following the Bruins’ loss to rival USC. He even went so far as to say that he won’t talk to his family when he goes home and explained that he is going to hate himself for the loss.

One reporter wondered if the loss would help motivate UCLA moving forward. However, Cronin doesn’t necessarily think so, explaining that the players on the team aren’t likely to feel it the same way.

“I disagree. I just disagree,” Mick Cronin said. “Here’s what I disagree with, you would assume they’re extremely humble. Like, I feel bad. My family, I’m not going to talk to anybody tonight. I’m gonna hate myself, the job I did. The only person I’m talking to tonight’s my dog. Okay? And that’s it. I have a recruit in town, so somehow I have to rally tomorrow.”

USC beat UCLA 62-56. That included a second half where the Bruins were only able to score 22 points. It became the lowest offensive output for UCLA since a road loss to Utah in January. On top of that, the loss also dropped UCLA to 14-13 on the season.

“They’re not me. Like, they’re not you. They’re just not. They’re kids. I mean, I would hope that they were thoroughly embarrassed, and they should be. I just don’t know if it’s like that. I think it goes back, there’s certain guys. Other guys will go out. You know, I’m liable to have four guys out eating and laughing tonight with their girlfriends. That’s just the way it is,” Cronin said.

“Everybody isn’t Jaime Jaquez. Everybody’s not like that. I wish. I wish.”

Mick Cronin puts UCLA on blast for USC preparation

One thing that Mick Cronin took a major issue with after the game was how the Bruins prepared for the game, putting UCLA on blast for it.

“It’s a simple game. The team that plays harder usually wins. They played much harder than us. They were more physical, they had humility, they came in here looking for redemption. We had no humility. Show me somebody that’s not humble and I’ll show you somebody getting ready to get humbled. We had our worst week of practice of the season,” Cronin said.

“I failed miserably to get my team ready for the fight that was coming today and I’m thoroughly embarrassed. And I apologize to the people wearing the four letters. Yes, we really struggled making the open shots, but that has nothing to do with all the stuff I talked about. The team that wins the fight usually wins the game. And they won the fight in every way. We were awful.”
