Tyger Campbell has not thought about future at UCLA
During the UCLA Bruins men’s basketball media availability on Wednesday, the team fielded questions about their upcoming showdown with Arizona State. But UCLA guard Tyger Campbell was hit with a totally different question to start off. Instead of being asked about the Sun Devils and his expectations for the game, Campbell was asked whether or not Thursday’s matchup we’ll be his second to last home game with the Bruins.
“Oh, naw. I’m just worried about winning against Arizona State on Thursday. I really haven’t thought about anything past that,” said Campbell.
Campbell was staying focused on the task at hand, and for a good reason. UCLA’s last two games of the season will be against the two Arizona schools; Thursday against Arizona State and Saturday against Arizona. Both schools are in the top four of the Pac-12 conference and have fared well against AP-ranked schools.
Arizona State is 11-7 in conference play with a 20-9 record on the year. And the Wildcats are the No. 8 team in the nation currently with a conference record of 13-5 and are 24-5 in the regular season. While Campbell faces an important decision on what to do in his future, it is clear that his attention is on the present. And that starts with beating Arizona State on Thursday.
Mick Cronin says Pac-12 title does not change UCLA’s approach
No. 4 UCLA deserves some degree of a pat on the back considering they’ve clinched the Pac-12’s regular season title with two games left on the schedule. However, Mick Cronin only wants that self-praise to last so long since he sees a lot still out there for the Bruins to accomplish.

Cronin said following Saturday’s clinching win over Colorado that it did nothing to change UCLA’s approach over this final week. He said this was the first step towards their long-term goals but that there are also several things left for them to compete for this week, including seeding in the NCAA Tournament.
“Zero. No. I told the guys that I don’t water thrown on me, man. I’m tired, worried about getting rest. (This) doesn’t change anything,” Cronin said. “Our goal along the way? A side effect is gonna be to try and win the Pac-12 and be able to stay in the West. So we’ve got more games to win to be able to try and accomplish that goal.”
“Also, we have the longest home-winning streak in the country that we take a lot of pride in. We’re focused on Arizona State…(They’re) where our focus will be,” said Cronin.
