UCLA Director of Athletics Martin Jarmond has received a three-year contract extension, according to ESPN insider Pete Thamel. His contract now runs through 2029, Thamel reports.

Martin Jarmond has been at UCLA since 2020, leading the Bruins to numerous conference championships and helping guide UCLA through its transition into the Big Ten.

Since leaving Boston College to take over the UCLA AD job in 2020, the Bruins have won five national championships, bringing home national titles in men’s water polo (2020), women’s soccer (2022), men’s volleyball (2023, 2024) and women’s water polo (2024).

According to Thamel, UCLA has won 18 conference championships since Martin Jarmond took over as the Director of Athletics.

A former assistant AD at Michigan State and Ohio State, Jarmond played a critical role in helping UCLA transition to the Big Ten. It is a move that paid off big time for the Bruins as they are in a conference that is doing well financially, while some other leagues struggle.

Jarmond also is responsible for hiring DeShaun Foster as the Bruins football coach this past offseason. The move received some criticism at the time and even more after UCLA got off to a 1-5 start this season.

However, Foster’s team has won three straight games and is 4-5 (3-4) with three games remaining. Jarmond shared back when he made the hire why he felt like Foster was the right guy for the job.

“While undergoing a comprehensive search for our new head coach, DeShaun resonated from the start and throughout the whole process,” Jarmond said in a statement.

“We are looking for a coach with integrity, energy and passion; someone who is a great teacher, who develops young men, is a great recruiter and fully embraces the NIL landscape to help our student-athletes. DeShaun checks all of those boxes and then some. He is a leader of men and a true Bruin. I am excited to partner with him as we usher UCLA Football into an exciting new era.”
