DeShaun Foster and the new UCLA staff have already taken some major strides on the recruiting trail this summer. The Bruins landed a pair of impressive four-star commitments last month.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), the Big Ten program is in line to make another splash with a top in-state prospect this summer.

Entering official visit season, UCLA was not considered a factor in the recruitment of Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star wide receiver Marcus Harris. That quickly changed after the 5-foot-11, 185-pound pass-catcher logged a surprise OV to Westwood on June 1.

Last week, Harris told On3’s Chad Simmons that he had narrowed his focus down to the Bruins, Georgia and Oregon. Four predictions have since been logged in favor of Foster and Co. landing Harris’ commitment — which could come later this month or in July.

“Their NFL style. Coaching staff, all them dudes have NFL backgrounds, so that’s a big thing,” Harris said of UCLA earlier this month. “They have connections with NFL guys and they’ve also been at the top level, especially with Coach (Eric) Bieniemy coaching the Chiefs, having that offense, winning two championships, that’s big. Coach (Erik) Frazier coming from the NFL, coaching guys like AJ Brown. I really like their coaching staff, for sure.”

Harris took an official visit to Georgia in May and is expected to take his OV to Oregon this weekend. While he told Simmons there was no leader in his recruitment, eyes continue to look toward the in-state school.

“I couldn’t even tell you who’s leading the race right now, I just feel like all schools are equal,” he said.

Golden State standouts headline UCLA’s 2025 class

The Bruins landed their top target on May 25, as Long Beach (Calif.) Warren four-star quarterback Madden Iamaleava announced his commitment. The younger brother of former five-star recruit and projected Tennessee starting quarterback Nico Iamaleava, Madden is the No. 120 overall prospect and No. 11 QB in the cycle.

Earlier in the month, Hesperia (Calif.) Oak Hills four-star running back Karson Cox chose UCLA. The 6-footer is a top-150 recruit and top-10 burner in the 2025 On300.

Four additional in-state prospects are currently in the class: San Juan Capistrano San Juan Hills three-star linebacker Weston Port, Temecula Chapparal three-star cornerback Kuron Jabari Jr., Rocklin three-star offensive tackle Garrison Blank and Los Angeles Loyola three-star EDGE Scott Taylor.

Other commits in the class include Graham (Wash.) Kapowsin three-star tight end Noah Flores, Frisco (Texas) Memorial three-star cornerback Chase Coleman and Queen Creek (Ariz.) three-star TE Dylan Sims.
