UCLA lands San Diego State DB Marcus Ratcliffe
Former San Diego State safety Marcus Ratcliffe has committed to UCLA, via the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Ratcliffe only played one season for the Bruins, appearing in all 12 games. Ratcliffe finished his debut campaign with 50 tackles, one pass defended and one interception. He amassed a season-high six tackles in San Diego State’s loss against No. 16 Oregon State.
In high school, Ratcliffe was a three-time first-team all-league selection at defense and once at offense. He boosted his team to a state championship his junior year. Along with San Diego State, Ratcliffe was recruited by Brigham Young, Arizona, California, Colorado, Air Force and Utah State.
Ratcliffe played high school football at Cathedral Catholic (CA), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 955 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Ratcliffe posted a heartfelt message on social media along with his announcement to enter the portal.
“l am extremely thankful for my time at SDSU,” Ratcliffe wrote. “Thank you Coach Hoke and Coach Mattix for believing in me and allowing me to start as a true freshman. I will forever cherish my time at
SDSU!”
