UCLA quarterback Dante Moore works out with Patrick Mahomes, Trey Lance
The UCLA Bruins completed their first week of spring practice on Sunday, but that hasn’t stopped freshman quarterback Dante Moore from getting in some extra work with NFL talent.
Moore posted on Instagram Monday, giving fans an early glance at former five-star prospect sporting the UCLA gold and blue for the first time during the first collegiate practices of his career. But his post also revealed a picture of himself with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and San Fransisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance.
Los Angeles is a popular spot for many NFL stars to workout during the offseason, as Moore was able to find some free time in his busy and new schedule as a student-athlete to workout with Mahomes, and Lance.
Moore hasn’t been on the Bruins roster long, but has already made a good impression on head coach Chip Kelly. Moore was a five-star prospect in the 2023 class, ranked the No. 2 quarterback in the nation and the No. 3 overall recruit according to On3’s Industry Rankings. He’s the highest ranked recruit and the only five-star in UCLA’s 2023 class, and he could have a chance to play early for the Bruins.

UCLA’s four year starting quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson is entering the 2023 NFL Draft, leaving a vacancy under center for the Bruins. Moore will compete with Kent State transfer Collin Schlee and others this offseason for the starting quarterback job, and his work with some of the NFL’s best may give him the edge he needs heading into his highly anticipated quarterback battle.
Lance on the other hand is in the process of coming back from a serious injury he suffered last season. The former No. 3 overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft was named the 49ers starting quarterback heading into last season, but an ankle injury cut his season short early in Week 2 versus the Seattle Seahawks, sidelining him for the remainder of the season. Lance has only appeared in eight games and started in four in his professional career, as he looks to return to action this season for San Fransisco.
Mahomes is fresh off of one of the best seasons of his career. He ended last season by securing his second Super Bowl win, second Super Bowl MVP award, and second NFL MVP award of his career. He threw for a career high 5,250 yards last season along with 41 touchdowns, and likely had plenty of knowledge and wisdom for Moore and Lance as they strive to reach similar success in the future.
