This Saturday, the USC Trojans are going to travel to Boulder to take on the Colorado Buffaloes. It’s a game that’s expected to have a lot of scoring as two high-powered offenses meet one another. For the Trojans, defensive coordinator Alex Grinch will be tasked with slowing down the Buffaloes.

Ahead of their meeting, Grinch opened up about how impressive Colorado has been on film.

“Really impressive,” Alex Grinch said. “The film speaks for itself. Then, I’m sure they’re frustrated they missed some opportunities this past weekend, but in totality, which as you go through cut-ups and everything else.”

In particular, Alex Grinch has been impressed with the play of quarterback Shedeur Sanders. To this point in the season, Sanders has completed 76.9 percent of his passes for 1,410 yards passing and 11 touchdowns to only one interception.

“I think you see an explosive offense and a quarterback that is somewhere in the vicinity of 80 percent completion percentage, which obviously raises eyebrows. The ability to extend plays and still throw the ball downfield is obviously alarming as you watch him and some skill guys to get that ball to. Again, very impressive,” Grinch said.

“You so badly want to say they’re not good at X, they’re not good a Y, and that’s just not been the case as you go through the video. So, very impressive at the quarterback position, but he’s got some weapons to get the ball to.”

To this point in the season, Colorado is 3-1 and hasn’t lost at home. Colorado is 50th in scoring offense, averaging 32.5 points per game. The Buffaloes are also 57th in total offense, with 409 yards per game.

“The game will be difficult for Colorado, but not impossible,” Finebaum said. “I thought Oregon was a no-shotter. This one, they’ve got a puncher’s chance. Not much of one. They’re playing one of the top teams in the country, but a team that is still susceptible on defense.”

For her part, Heather Dinich disagreed with Paul Finebaum She doesn’t give Colorado a chance against USC.

“I’m not giving them a puncher’s chance, I’m not going anywhere near the upset pick on this one. I think it’s a knockout blow Paul, and I’ll tell you why. USC’s defense, for all you can say about Alex Grinch last year and missed tackles and everything, this year that USC defense is getting after quarterbacks. They’ve got 16 sacks this year. Guess what, Shedeur Sanders has been sacked 22 times. The most in the Power Five conference. It’s been seven times in each of the last two games. They just don’t have the depth right now, but I agree with Paul, who cares? It doesn’t matter,” Dinich said.

“This team won one game last year, and I think they can win six. If Colorado is bowl-eligible this year, I think they remain and finish the season the way they started, the best story in college football.”
