Former Auburn wide receiver Jay Fair has committed to USC out of the NCAA transfer portal, he tells On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

The new Trojan wideout was a two-year starter for the Tigers, though most of his stats came during his sophomore season. As a true freshman, he caught two passes on the season for 35 yards.

He saw a massive spike in production in 2023, hauling in 31 catches for 324 yards and two touchdowns.

The most impressive outing of his season last year saw him haul in seven receptions in a September outing against Samford. He totaled 93 yards but failed to reach the end zone. His lone touchdowns on the season came during the first two games he played in against UMass and Cal, respectively.

Before he enrolled at Auburn, Fair was a three-star recruit in the 2022 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He was the. No. 548 overall player and the No. 87 wideout in the nation

USC head coach Lincoln Riley recently explained where his receivers stand at the end of spring practice. The group combined for 37 receptions for 396 yards and two touchdowns on the day, seeing six wideouts record at least 35 receiving yards during the day.

“They’re doing well, I think all those guys, building on how they played in the bowl game,” Riley said after the spring game. “Not just getting their opportunities, but the quarterback position is probably going to be played a little bit differently. I know we talked a lot about it after the bowl game — it’s a little bit more traditional. And I think at times it can be a good thing for some of these receivers in terms of getting in a rhythm and just letting these guys make plays. And the quarterbacks we have in the room, that’s more of their style.

“When you’ve got playmakers like those guys, it’s awesome, you’re excited about it, they’re excited about it. We have some weapons in that room that we feel like are going to give us an advantage every time we step on the field next year.”

With Riley’s expectations in mind, Fair will head to Los Angeles where he’ll join USC as the Trojans transition to the Big Ten Conference later this offseason.
