LeBron “Bronny” James Jr. is home and resting after being discharged from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center following a sudden cardiac arrest over the weekend. The USC freshman was hospitalized and remained there since.

In a statement from his consulting cardiologist, Dr. Merije Chukumerije, James was described as being conscious and stable by the time he arrived at the hospital. His care team is hopeful he will back sooner, rather than later.

“Thanks to the swift and effective response by the USC athletics’ medical staff, Bronny James was successfully treated for a sudden cardiac arrest. He arrived at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center fully conscious, neurologically intact and stable. Mr. James was cared for promptly by highly-trained staff and has been discharged home, where he is resting. Although his workup will be ongoing, we are hopeful for his continued progress and are encouraged by his response, resilience, and his family and community support.”

James is a freshman guard on the USC basketball team and, of course, the eldest son of NBA legend LeBron James.

Lebron James Sr. expressed thanks for the support and condolences to his son and family

The NBA superstar and parent was grateful for all of the support and well-wishes. Fans and others sent his family and son countless messages online after the news came out earlier this week.

The terrifying news was reported following the incident on Monday morning. James was rushed to the hospital after a 9-1-1 call was made from USC’s Galen Center. That report also noted that James was in stable condition and out of the ICU.

“I want to thank the countless people sending my family love and prayers,” LeBron tweeted on Thursday afternoon. “We feel you and I’m so grateful. Everyone doing great. We have our family together, safe and healthy, and we feel your love. Will have more to say when we’re ready but I wanted to tell everyone how much your support has meant to all of us!”

Prior, the family released an official statement on the incident.

“Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest,” the statement read. “Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital.  He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU.  We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information.

“LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes.”
