LeBron James posts positive update on Bronny's recovery from cardiac arrest
It’s been a good recovery so far for Bronny James after the son of LeBron James suffered cardiac arrest at USC basketball practice.
LeBron posted a video on Instagram of Bronny playing the piano, seemingly in good health and spirits. The young basketball star was discharged from the hospital Thursday.
It’s unknown when he’ll resume basketball activities, but at least he kept his musical abilities sharp.
“GRAND RISING!! God Is Great! @bronny YOU ARE AMAZING!!! Simple as that! Keep going Young 🤴🏾!!! We’re here right with you every step of the way! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾✨✨✨✨ #JamesGang,” LeBron wrote in his caption on the Instagram video.
LeBron also wrote a message on Twitter Friday thanking everyone for the outpour of support for Bronny.
“I want to thank the countless people sending my family love and prayers,” LeBron wrote on Twitter. “We feel you and I’m so grateful. Everyone doing great. We have our family together, safe and healthy, and we feel your love. Will have more to say when we’re ready but I wanted to tell everyone how much your support has meant to all of us!”

In a statement from his consulting cardiologist, Dr. Merije Chukumerije, James was described as being conscious and stable by the time he arrived at the hospital. His care team is hopeful he will be back sooner, rather than later.
“Thanks to the swift and effective response by the USC athletics’ medical staff, Bronny James was successfully treated for a sudden cardiac arrest,” the statement read. “He arrived at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center fully conscious, neurologically intact and stable. Mr. James was cared for promptly by highly-trained staff and has been discharged home, where he is resting. Although his workup will be ongoing, we are hopeful for his continued progress and are encouraged by his response, resilience, and his family and community support.”
Bronny James was a four-star recruit out of Sierra Canyon (CA) and came in as the No. 25 overall prospect in the nation from the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. On3 was the only service to rank James as a five-star.
He arrived on USC’s campus in June as the Trojans got ready for summer workouts, and the team announced he’ll wear No. 6.
