Caleb Williams after beating UCLA: 'They had a lot to say today. We blocked it out, we did our job.'
The Victory Bell belongs to USC after the Trojans survived a shootout with UCLA on Saturday night, 48-45, to improve to 10-1. After being mum about the rivalry for most of the week, USC quarterback Caleb Williams was fired up after the win.
Williams is in his first season at USC after transferring from Oklahoma and downplayed what the rivalry meant. But after the game, you could tell just how much it meant for him to beat UCLA.
“They had a lot to say, all week. We blocked it. They had a lot to say today. We blocked it out, we did our job. We fought. We kept fighting. We were down, we kept fighting,” Williams said. “And that’s all it comes down to. I love this team, love these guys and would play with them any day.”

The USC defense came up clutch, creating turnovers to get the offense extra possessions which were badly needed as the Trojans fought to over come an early deficit.

“We always talk about it in the team room, of how we always got each others back. That’s the true brotherhood that we have. We pride ourselves in the unbreakable brotherhood and it showed today for sure,” Williams said.
And with another sterling performance on a national stage, Williams, the leader of these 10-1 Trojans on the field, is a legitimate Heisman candidate.
Fox’s Allison Williams asked him about potentially winning the award but the quarterback demurred.
“I don’t really care about that. I really care about this team going 1-0 every single week and we get the best chance to do it. When we focus on ourselves, we do our job, when we go out there and we fight like I said,” Caleb Williams said, trailing off. The sound of the Victory Bell being rung cut through the din of celebration.
“You can hear the bell behind us, I can’t wait to go ring it,” Williams said.
