Caleb Williams believes Deion Sanders has done a great job adjusting to new Colorado roster
Deion Sanders has turned Colorado‘s roster of transfer portal talent into a group of players that the nation can’t stop talking about. Even in defeat, the prospect of the Buffs taking down the USC Trojans and Caleb Williams is a thought that creates buzz across the nation.
Ahead of the matchup, Williams addressed his admiration for the job Colorado’s football program has done to not only turn things around, but to perform so well together despite never playing together before this offseason is a story that anybody can get behind.
After all, he can relate as USC went through a similar offseason turnover before the 2022 season. While it wasn’t as substantial as Colorado’s turnover, the Trojans welcomed in 19 players out of the portal and saw 25 exit — the most of any team during the 2022 portal cycle — as Williams and head coach Lincoln Riley took over coming from their time at Oklahoma.
“They’ve done a good job to say the least. They have like 60 or 70 new players, kind of like we did last year,” Williams said after practice on Wednesday. “They’ve done a great job going 3-0. It’s not the same team that we played last year. Obviously, not the same coaching staff and players, and we have to understand. It’s going to be a good game and I’m excited to play them.”
All Williams has to do to keep the Buffaloes at bay is to continue to play his brand of football. Through four games, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner has combined for a total of 18 touchdowns and 1,271 yards from scrimmage. More importantly, he has yet to turn the ball over this season.

Williams’ efforts have turned the Trojans into the nation’s highest-scoring team, scoring an average of 55 points per game — and that’s after scoring 42 points last week, the lowest amount of points USC has finished any game with this season.
Ironically, 42 is the same number of points Colorado allowed Oregon to score unanswered during the first 57 minutes of Week 4’s blowout. Any sort of replication of that performance will send the Trojans back to Los Angeles with a victory over Hollywood’s team.
Kickoff between the Buffaloes and Trojans is set for Noon ET live on FOX. USC is a 21.5-point betting favorite, per Vegas Insider, despite playing on the road. The over/under total is set at 73.5
