Caleb Williams names teammates who have stood out in spring practice
USC is into its spring practice schedule at this point and there are players on both sides of the ball who are standing out to quarterback and last year’s Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams.
Those players are defensive back Domani Jackson, defensive lineman Anthony Lucas, wide receiver Dorian Singer, defensive back Calen Bullock, linebacker Tackett Curtis, linebacker Mason Cobb, wide receiver Zachariah Branch and quarterback Miller Moss.
“Well, Domani, obviously Calen, he’s been balling as well,” Caleb Williams said after the program’s seventh practice of the spring. “Anthony Lucas made a pretty good play our last practice, which I don’t know how he made. He made a pretty good play on the run. Mason. Tackett. Tackett’s is my boy. Hard worker and he just goes at it every single chance he gets. Offensive wise, Dorian, we’ve been able to watch him play for versus too. He made some insane catches. Zach, his speed…Miller, he’s Miller time.”
The collection of players he named run the gauntlet of experience, positions and skillsets. Lucas, for example, is a former top-50 recruit who transferred in from Texas A&M after his freshman season. Singer is a junior who has previously played against the Trojans as a member of Arizona. Branch is a Five-Star Plus+ recruit who was the Trojans top signee in the 2023 class.

“We got a bunch of guys that are doing their part, a lot of it is just the small details, which turns out to be very big details,” Williams said. “You got to throw the ball to somebody or the right steps to hand it off or anything like that. Right stuff for o-lineman so somebody can’t shoot the gap and things like that. A lot of small details that we’re trying to crank out. That’s the part about football and the beauty of football. We got a lot of guys doing a lor of great days. But we also got a lot of guys that — all of us included, myself included — we have small things we need to work on and get better at to where we want to be at the end of the year.”
Williams threw for 4,537 passing yards last year on 333 completions off 500 attempts. He completed 42 touchdowns against just five interceptions.
