Caleb Williams reveals his reaction to the Arizona State player squirting water at him
Trojan quarterback Caleb Williams was attacked via water bottle on Saturday night. Well into USC’s three-possession win over the Arizona State Sun Devils, one play ended with Williams out of bounds on the ASU sideline. After the play concluded, Williams began jogging back to his own huddle but barked at the Sun Devil sideline as he left.
Who knows what was said, but whatever it was bothered a particular Arizona State defensive lineman. As Williams left the sideline, senior Nesta Jade Silvera took a stand, squirting Williams in the face with his water bottle to shut him up. Williams was taken aback, as you’d expect, throwing his hands up in disbelief at such a childish aggression.
After the game, though, he brushed off the incident and said he really didn’t think much of it.

“I didn’t think anything of it. Yeah I didn’t think anything of it, kind of laughed at it when I was walking away,” said Williams. “Moved on, you know. It’s an emotional game, so things happen within the game. But moved on and we’re still 5-0 yeah.”

The ordeal affected Caleb Williams very little. He and the Trojans continued to pour it on in the eventual 17-point win for Lincoln Riley’s club. Which, as mentioned, is 5-0 and square in position to contend for a College Football Playoff spot. Just keep takin’ care of business out west.
USC next hosts Washington State, a typically pesky opponent on the football field, before perhaps the biggest league game of the year — a trip to Utah against the currently 11th-ranked Utes. Win that one and the CFP talks will really ramp up. Year one under the new coaching regime is going about as perfectly as possible…so far.
