Caleb Williams has been on a journey over his first two seasons in college football. It has taken him out of the nation’s capital to Norman, Oklahoma and now to Hollywood’s bright lights. With all those travels and experiences come lessons to be learned for a young prospect like Williams. When asked the biggest thing he’s taken in since even arriving at USC, he says it’s that there’s even more out there for him to learn.

Williams shared his thoughtful answer during media after the Trojan’s practice on Tuesday. He said he knows he can still get better as a player and that he’s ready to continue learning.

“There’s a lot more that I don’t know and that I’m itching to know,” said Williams. “Whether that’s how I can be better, how I can play better. And not have, like we just talked about, the one interception. My play fakes, how I can just overall be better as a player and as a leader. That’s one of the main things.”

It’s hard to imagine what other lessons Lincoln Riley can instill in an already talented player like Williams. In his second season, Williams has completed 64.6% of his passes for 2,742 yards and 28 touchdowns compared to just one interception. As a person, Williams also comes across far more mature than a college sophomore on the verge of his 20th birthday.

It’s a credit to Williams’ modest demeanor that he still feels there’s still more out there for him to learn. Him being this introspective and honest should excite everyone in Los Angeles. That thoughtfulness makes him an even better leader for USC and, if he puts those lessons into practice, an even better player to follow in the sport.
