Calen Bullock shares key to containing Colorado offense
When No. 8 USC takes on Colorado this weekend it’ll have to be mindful of a very potent passing attack, led by star Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Containing the Colorado offense starts with slowing Sanders.
And even though Colorado is coming off its worst outing of the season, USC players are expecting nothing but the best when they meet on Saturday.
“Go out there and play our game. Play our defense,” Trojans safety Calen Bullock said. “It’s not a big stage for us. It’s a regular game to us, another week, another team. Go out there and lock into our assignments and make sure you do your job and count on your brother to do his job.”
That might sound a little easier than it actually will be. Colorado has plenty of weapons. The team’s passing attack ranks No. 4 nationally.
Sanders has his pick of targets, though he’ll be without a big one in Travis Hunter, who is still dealing with a lacerated liver. Still, Xavier Weaver has already accounted for 461 yards and two touchdowns this season.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Horn Jr. has racked up 243 yards and two touchdowns, while running back Dylan Edwards has 169 yards and three touchdowns. Even tight end Michael Harrison has gotten in on the action, with 135 yards receiving and three touchdowns.

Ashton Jeanty responds to Travis Hunter
It won’t be an easy task, but Bullock and company feel if they just go out there and play their game they’ll be just fine containing the Colorado offense.
Caleb Williams downplaying competition with Sheduer Sanders
Though it’ll be a matchup of two of the quarterbacks that have gotten plenty of Heisman Trophy love early in the 2023 season, USC quarterback Caleb Williams is downplaying any sense of competition with Sanders going into Saturday.
For him it’s all about the game and coming out a winner.
“I’m excited to go compete against [Colorado],” Caleb Williams said. “I mean, I won’t be competing against Shedeur, but excited to go compete against the defense. They’ve got a great defense. Got a bunch of good, explosive players. Like I said, really excited.”
Through four games this season, Williams has thrown for 1,200 yard and 15 touchdowns without an interception. He has also run for three scores.
USC and Colorado will meet at noon ET with a broadcast on FOX.
