Chase Williams is staying in California after entering the transfer portal.

Williams took to Twitter announce he’s transferring to San Jose State next season. He’s coming off his fourth season with USC and turned in the best numbers of his career in 2021.

Williams appeared in 11 games for the Trojans last season, totaling 48 tackles — including 2.5 tackles for loss — and a sack. It was quite a bounce-back after playing in just one game during the COVID-19-impacted 2020 season. In fact, USC faced San Jose State to open last season and Williams had six tackles as USC cruised to a 30-7 victory.

Out of high school, Williams was a four-star recruit and the No. 15 recruit in his home state of California from the Class of 2018, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s joining a San Jose State team that went 5-7 overall and 3-5 in Mountain West action last season.

Houston lands transfer commitment from former USC running back Brandon Campbell

Another former Trojan announced his transfer commitment earlier this month when running back Brandon Campbell shared he will transfer to Houston. Campbell posted a video of himself standing on at midfield on the Cougars logo, posing in a team jersey and also doing backflips.

The running back is a native of Katy, Texas, which is less than an hour drive to Houston. A former four-star prospect, he ranks as the No. 29 running back according to On3’s Transfer Portal Rankings. He was the No. 27 running back in the 2021 class according to On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Campbell played in just three games during the 2021 season, preserving his redshirt. He is set to join the Cougars as a redshirt freshman after rushing for 53 yards on just 12 carries in his brief career with the Trojans. The 5-foot-11, 210-pound Campbell also caught one pass for a gain of 16 yards.

After being named first team All-District as a high school junior, Campbell opted out of playing his senior season in 2020. He still fielded scholarship offers from some of the best, including AlabamaOhio State and Texas.
